Everytime you listen to shitty songs god kills a kitten
Please! Think of the kittens!
This blog is an attempt to save kitties
(also to spread some good music around)
Ok well... here we are, im posting a mix i did on wednesday night
this is the PL:
its really a test because i didnt planned the playlist so everything you hear is done without preparation whatsoever and i will redo it with more preparation. Lots of error of 16 beats (if u dont understand you'll figure it out). so here is the mix:
I don't know, I really enjoy this song, nice lyrics, and nice dreamy sad ballad. I really liked it when i saw Donnie Darko (which is a great movie, go rent it) but i totally forgot about it:
Actually this is a cover made for Donnie Darko, the original being a song made by Tears For Fears in the 80's..... the original version is pretty bad.... well at least very very crappy compared to that acoustique version
Ok the emo session being over lets start some more serious things:
Tyger! Tyger! burning bright In the forests of the night, What immortal hand or eye Could frame thy fearful symmetry? In what distant deeps or skies Burnt the fire of thine eyes? On what wings dare he aspire? What the hand dare sieze the fire? And what shoulder, & what art. Could twist the sinews of thy heart? And when thy heart began to beat, What dread hand? & what dread feet? What the hammer? what the chain? In what furnace was thy brain? What the anvil? what dread grasp Dare its deadly terrors clasp? When the stars threw down their spears, And watered heaven with their tears, Did he smile his work to see? Did he who made the Lamb make thee? Tyger! Tyger! burning bright In the forests of the night, What immortal hand or eye Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?
A wink at all the francophones that don't understand why we are writing in english.
Thy is cassé.
But before we start:Pitchfork doesn't understand that blogging is not a musical critic medium. Blogging is a medium for critic music. It's still a nice wee read.
So yeah, introducing the brother of Zamboni Effect™: Seg Max Kult Klassik™. So I guess I was going to post another Zamboni Effect™, however, PTF didn't forget anything in his last 3 post.
Enter Seg Max Kult Klassik. Revisitings some diamonds and gems of the past. This is great stuff hailed by the best critic: Time.
Not the Time magasine. you idiot.
I. French and British Slanged and Seminal Hip Hop.
MC Solaar - Nouveau Western. Serge Gainsbourg's Bonnie and Clyde loop, one of the few musical artist able to make such a interesting link between American military foreign policies and Hollywood cultural globalisation. Also, this is only the tip of the iceberg called MC Solaar. He did to rap what Coltrane did to jazz. Klassik i say !
IAM - Je Danse Le Mia. Club track of IAM. It smells Marseille. It's dancy, it's funny. Just like Nouveau Western's MC Solaar, this is the tip of the iceberg. The iceberg being one the most massive of all french rap bands. Worked beats on versatile flow about french poverty or science fiction. Think about Wu Tang, but in France. They worked together also. Klassik i say !
Kano - P's and Q's. Don't you like this beat ? This flow ? This I'm-Underground-and-better-you stance ? I think it's the best song of all grime i listened yet. Just perfect. (future) Klassik I Say !
II. The Replacements. or The Mats. or Tim. or Please to Meet Me. or All is Nothing.
One of the best indie bands of all time. Where indie signified only one thing: not being able to get a contract with a record compagny. OR: not being able to please the record compagny once with the contract. Simple, humble, rockin and poppin. Cousins to Hüsker Dü, contemporaries to Sonic Youth and the whole hardcore scene. This is just good stuff. Klassik I say !
Talking Heads - Drugs. Final track of the klassik ( i say!) Fear of Music. This is one of the album to get on your shelf. This is the track you ought to adore for being such a nice pop minimalist expirement, it didn't age. Talking Heads might be the best band ever. (obvious) Klassik I say !
Wire - Pratice Makes Perfect. True title. Fuckin' nice buildup. Wire is what your brain want. One of the punk band that got away with synths and managed to create post punk along with Television. Ich Bein ein Klassik !
The Fall - The Classical. so charimastic, so raw, so politically incorrect but correct about politics. This song is a inner debate that turns into a nasty fight and everybody is punching everybody. It is a rugby match between intellectual drunks. Its the rage of Manchester under Thatcher, it's the violence of a new music. You hear Pavement ? I hear almost everything after post-punk. It is the Classical, they say ( and I say).
Celtic FC vs Manchester United tomorow. You'll never walk alone Bhoys !
little early? well fuck that i nearly did a cardiac arest reading this
This is gonna be fucking crazy... oh boy i'm glad i stay in Montreal Tommie Sunshine and Boys Noize are going to rock that party out.
Unfortunatly Numero # is in the line up... i find its worth horseshit... i saw him doing a featuring live with Omnikrom (which is the worse rap band on earth... juste picture Roi Heenok with Spank Rock beats... there is like a bug in the matrix... THERE IS NO SPOON LOL!).
I don't have much Tommy Sunshine but you can always go on his myspace
here have somme related music:
Para One - Dudun-dun (Boys Noize Remix) - Para One is really one of the rising DJs at the moment, but this Boys Noize Remx gives his hit song another dimension
Busy P - What's You're Name Again - Busy P !!! long live ed banger (im such a ed banger whore) [!96kbps, shit quality but it's worth it] I love the "WHHHAT" samples from LiL John haha
BTW if you plan on going to the NEON New Years party leave it it the comments and if you want to insult me because you can't be there, plz do, i want to laught a bit
Maxe Panic, (yeah my esoteric parents gave me this strange name), will take care of the 'Zamboni™' effect of the blog. All that PTF have forgotten on his trail of blazing music addiction will be recycled by ... me ! Hardwork ? well, i once witnessed a Georges Leningrad concert.
Pharaoh Sanders - Colors - Pure, warm, beautiful jazz there. The rythm section is bubblelicious. The voice is bootylicious and the rest is so joyfulicious, America becomes happylicious for 5 minutes. You gotta love this.
Animal Collective - Purple Bottle - Woooohooo. Now the best part of this descriptions SHOULD be the comments. Comment #1 - what the fuck ? Comment #2 - Pitchfork whore ! Comment #3 - fake indie poser, already saw them 3 times since Spirit they've gone, Spirit they've Vanished. Comment #4 - but..what the fuck ? Comment #5 - Good Stuff.
Number 1, 4 and 5 win.
PTF adds: "it's the only indie band to not have been aired on the OC ever"
Haha he got pwnt by So-Me and their videoclip of Never Be Alone for Justice VS. Simian and he wasnt very happy about that: *click* i was trying to catch a link that doesn't die... but mtv keeps on deleting the vid from youtube...
On the ed banger record myspace they say that they would do the next Kanye clip for free haha
Anyways here are some songs i can't get out of my Tracktor PL at the moment:
Ok well here is the first random track list... i hope you like it... it's not the latest hype music to be out but i prefere sharing what i think is cool... soooo knock yourself out hopefully i will do real playlist soon...
Robbie Williams - Lovelight (Soulwax Ravelight Dub) - The Soulwax Vocal mix is also really good but i hate Robbie so the less i hear him the better. I saw Soulwax in Montreal and when they played this people were going crazy, awsome croud reaction. I've waited almost a month to get a good quality copy of this hot track. Enjoy
NTM - Qu'est Ce Qu'on Attend - Probably the most visionary song of all times, NTM explained and foretold the 2005 riots in France's "Cités" 10 years beforehand... yup this has been recorded in 1995... scary eh?
Death From Above 1979 - Romantic Rights (The Phones Lovers Remix) - I love all the Remixes of DFA 1979, but this one makes me happy in my pants really bad. I love Phones, he is a real genius, this guy really knows how to make it sound right. And before you ask if DFA 1979 is related to DFA the remixers and the label, i answer to that yes and no.... No because its not the same guys in the band, and yes because the team behind the production of the DFA 1979 album are the DFA guys.... is that making more sens? ok maybe i made that up... go figure
